| Random Lake, WI -- Badger Tag & Label Corporation
has developed a tag and label set that identifies products as they
move through the quality control process. This new configuration
is a multi-part piece with colors, type, and materials playing a
key role in each stage of the process.
The
two top layers are perforated for ease of tearing away and the third
layer is a self-adhesive label with a pull-tab for quick application
directly to the product so it can move through the quality control
process. The first layer, a bond, includes the word Staging. This
layer is used at the beginning of the process and identifies a cautionary
yellow for the product. The second layer, a ten point DIP tag, includes
the word Non-Conforming. The vibrant red color clearly helps indicate
that something must happen to this product before it can meet accepted
standards and be ready to ship. The final layer is a synthetic label
that includes the word Approved with a green background which means
the product is ready for shipping. This final layer also can include
specific information about the product including part, lot, and
unit numbers. An additional benefit of the final layer being a self-adhesive
synthetic is that it remains a resilient label when applied directly
to the product but also removes in one complete piece.
Common practice in many manufacturing facilities is to meet ISO
standards. Products must move through an approval/testing process
and are sometimes difficult to identify at what stage they are in.
Badger consulted with one of their dealers to develop this innovative
tag/label set for use on large drums of manganese. This new cost
efficient set replaced one that a competitor was printing which
was cumbersome and inefficient.
"While we have many clients we serve directly, we also have
an extensive dealer/distributor base and we consider them our partners,"
says DJ Jacoby, Sales/Marketing Manager. "We welcome challenges
that address a specific issue because it's likely another company
has a similar challenge that the tag/label we develop can address
as well. In this instance, not only other chemical companies could
benefit, but many other manufacturers as well."
